    NURSE AIDE TRAINING COURSE INFORMATION

    Health Career Pathways offers comprehensive nurse aide training to prepare individuals for state certification. Our program includes 60 hours of in-person classroom lecture and lab skill demonstration followed by 21 hours of hands-on training in a nursing home environment. We take pride in delivering all training in a face-to-face setting, ensuring a hands-on and immersive learning experience for our students.

    Requirements for Registration

    • Reading at 9th grade level

    • Math skills at 6th grade level

    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray

    • Criminal background check

    • 100% attendance is mandatory

    • Timely completion of assignments

    • Minimum score of 75% on all homework and tests

    Physical Skills​

    This program teaches direct care physical skills including:

    • Handwashing

    • Shaving

    • Bathing

    • Feeding

    • Perineal care

    • Catheter care

    • Dressing

    • Bed making

    • Wheelchair transfer

    • Mechanical lift transfer

    • Ambulation

    • Using walkers and canes

    • Skin care

    • Assisting with elimination

    • Mouth care

    • Foot care

    • Hand and nail care

    • Measure and record vital signs

    Academic Content

    This program is ideal for students whose jobs require them to pass the state CNA exam.

    This program teaches academic content tested on the state CNA exam.

    Academic content includes

    • body systems

    • infection prevention

    • age-related changes

    • disease processes

    • emergency response

    • medical terminology

    • nutrition​

     

    Students are expected to complete:

    • three tests

    • two homework assignments

    • eight worksheets
